Miriam Margolyes has disclosed that approaches were made regarding her potential participation in a well-known reality television programme set in the Australian wilderness.
Born in Oxford, the actress has appeared as Professor Sprout in the Harry Potter film series and secured the BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Mrs Mingott in Martin Scorsese’s 1993 production, The Age of Innocence.

She explained that while she holds Stephen Fry in high regard, considering him a positive influence, she ultimately felt unable to commit to such appearances.
Margolyes expressed her aversion to formats requiring participants to determine who remains in or exits the competition, stating that she finds such programmes unappealing.
She noted that substantial financial offers had been extended for her participation in both the aforementioned jungle programme and a dance competition series.
