A residential care facility in Witney brought local residents together for an afternoon of entertainment and refreshments at its annual summer celebration.
Millers Grange, operated by Care UK on Curbridge Road, opened its doors to inhabitants, relatives and members of the surrounding neighbourhood for the community gathering.
Guests were invited to view the property’s amenities, which include a hair and beauty salon, cinema room and café area.
Charlie Maynard MP was present at the occasion, while the Witney Round Table organisation operated a licensed bar offering their newly launched Yabba Dabba Do beer, produced in collaboration with Little Ox Brewery.
Participants engaged with traditional fairground activities including hook-a-duck, rubber axe throwing and parachute games.
A raffle and tombola were also available for attendees.
Charlie Pannons, aged 97 and a resident at the home, expressed enthusiasm for the event, noting appreciation for staff members appearing without their usual workwear as this created a family atmosphere.
The resident also commented favourably on the Yabba Dabba Do beer and enjoyed hearing about its production process involving the Round Table and Little Ox.
Additionally, the resident mentioned finding conversation with Kye, the Round Table chairman, particularly engaging.
Rachel Scurr, the home manager at Millers Grange, emphasised that nurturing connections with the local area forms a core part of the facility’s values, and the summer fair offered an ideal occasion to welcome Witney residents into the home.
The manager noted pleasure at witnessing inhabitants and visitors participating in games, dancing and enjoying themselves throughout the afternoon.
