Authorities are examining potential links between suspicious behaviour observed in a village and a reported theft occurring on the same evening.
Approximately six individuals wearing dark clothing, hoods and face coverings were noted examining stationary vehicles along High Street in Dorchester, close to Abingdon, during a two-hour window on the evening of Sunday, August 30.
The activity was reported to have taken place between 9.15pm and 11pm.
A short time later, officers were called to an incident at allotment gardens situated on Watling Lane.
Investigating officers are currently determining whether the two occurrences are related.
Community support officer Sarah Jones, serving the Didcot and Wallingford area, urged anyone who may have been present in the vicinity to come forward.
Those with knowledge of suspicious activity, individuals matching the description provided, or footage captured by CCTV systems, doorbell cameras or vehicle dashcams were asked to make contact.
