A British woman who managed a pub in the Whitchurch area of Oxfordshire has died following a fatal assault in Bavaria, German investigators have confirmed.
The victim has been named locally as Rebecca Bullock, aged 31, who was popularly known as Becca.
Officers from the Bavarian Police Service initiated a homicide inquiry after she sustained fatal injuries at Rosenheim train station during the late-night period on Sunday, August 30.
According to reports, she died at the scene from wounds consistent with a stabbing attack.
A 27-year-old German national was apprehended by officers at the location following the occurrence.
Authorities subsequently ordered the suspect’s placement in a psychiatric facility, where he remains detained pending the investigation into potential murder charges.
Ms Bullock’s place of employment was The White Swan, situated in Whitchurch along the boundary with Oxfordshire.
The establishment published a commemorative notice through Facebook, expressing profound sorrow at the news of her passing while she was traveling abroad.
The message conveyed that the entire team at the venue held her in deep affection, as did the regular patrons who frequented the premises.
Management indicated that the pub would suspend operations for two days to allow personnel and locals to process the event.
Floral offerings have been positioned outside the venue as residents honour her memory.
The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has verified that it is rendering assistance to her relatives and maintaining communication with German officials during this period.
The Bicester Team Chase organisation, an equestrian team-chasing competition conducted annually in North Oxfordshire, also issued a statement mourning her loss.
Representatives for the group described her as an invaluable contributor to the event’s organisation and a cherished companion to numerous participants.
Her passion and drive were said to have been truly inspiring, with the group hoping to commemorate her life collectively at the earliest opportunity.
Condolences were extended to her loved ones during this challenging phase.
Lauren Roberts, who had known Ms Bullock through their shared involvement in equestrian pursuits, offered tributes to her character.
