Prime Video has apparently commissioned additional episodes of The Grand Tour revival before the programme has even premiered.
Amazon executives are said to have been sufficiently impressed by the refreshed presenting team to authorise further filming, despite the revamped motoring format not launching until tomorrow (September 4).
The updated show features social media personality Francis Bourgeois alongside automotive content creators Thomas Holland and James Engelsman.
These three replace Richard Hammond and James May alongside Jeremy Clarkson, who was previously characterised as an Oxfordshire farmer.
Their appointment follows the departure of the original trio after One For The Road, a farewell special broadcast in September 2024 that marked the conclusion of the partnership that originally gained prominence through Top Gear.
According to The Independent, executive producer Andy Wilman has confirmed that groundwork for a second series is already in motion.
Addressing The Sun, Wilman noted that preparations include scouting potential filming destinations, though the specific requirements remain unclear.
Wilman indicated that committing to additional episodes would assist the new hosts in building recognition with audiences.
He described initial seasons as inherently challenging and expressed confidence that providing this particular line-up with a sustained opportunity would allow them to develop their own identity within the format.
Reports suggest the forthcoming six-part season will incorporate overseas locations, with filming scheduled for the Angolan desert alongside other international settings such as Malaysia.
While the original presenting lineup has departed from regular hosting duties, Clarkson, Hammond and May are anticipated to appear briefly throughout the revival as part of an transitional arrangement.
