A commemorative weekend was held in honour of those who perished in the Bicester Motion blaze, generating approximately £15,000 for charitable causes.
The gathering, titled A Night for Martyn, took place on Friday, August 28, coinciding with what would have been Martyn Sadler’s 40th birthday.
Sadler was among three individuals who died during the Bicester Motion emergency on May 15, 2025.
Fellow fatalities included firefighter Jennifer Logan and entrepreneur Dave Chester, while two additional firefighters sustained severe injuries.
Approximately 200 guests attended the function, arranged by Sadler’s younger sister Kelly Humphrey with backing from relatives and supporters.
The event yielded £14,085 for The Fire Fighters Charity through auction items, raffle tickets and contributions.
An additional 2,500 raffle entries were sold during the evening.
Staff members from RD Catering Services contributed their wages from the occasion, supplementing the total by £500.
Motorcyclists staged a memorial ride through Bicester on Sunday, August 30, honouring the three deceased and raising funds for charities selected by their families.
The convoy was arranged by Rob Pullen and preceded by a fire biker.
Participants encountered agreeable conditions as they navigated the town.
Onlookers assembled along portions of the itinerary, including family members, companions and pets, waving as the procession went by.
The riders eventually halted at The Greedy Pig Cafe in Grendon Underwood.
While attendance fell short of expectations, over £500 was collected, with further contributions being accepted via a digital fundraising platform.
One particularly poignant moment occurred at Bicester Fire Station.
As riders approached, six crew members stationed outside in full firefighting attire stood alongside a fire engine with emergency lighting illuminated as a mark of respect.
Pullen noted satisfaction with the turnout, despite numbers falling below anticipated levels.
He acknowledged difficulties encountered during planning but expressed gratitude that the event proceeded.
He described the presence of uniformed firefighters and the fire engine as lending additional significance to the occasion.
He extended appreciation to fire biker participants, marshals, The Greedy Pig Cafe, those who assisted with collections and his spouse Emma for their contributions.
Looking forward to subsequent years, Pullen expressed hope that increased community participation would support future rides.
He emphasised that while the gathering served to commemorate Jennie, Martyn and Dave, it also highlighted appreciation for emergency personnel whose work enables such events to occur.
The commemorations precede inquests into the deaths of Sadler, Logan and Chester, which are scheduled to commence in September.
