A food business located on Corn Street in Witney has received a poor hygiene rating following an official inspection.
USA Fried Chicken and Pizza, which serves the local community, was awarded the lowest possible score of one out of five stars by food safety inspectors.
The assessment was carried out by officers from West Oxfordshire District Council in July.
Three separate aspects of the establishment were evaluated during the visit.
The first area examined was the management of food safety at the premises.
Inspectors concluded that major improvements were needed in the systems designed to guarantee that food products are safe for consumption.
This category also covered proof that employees understand food safety protocols and whether the inspector could be confident that appropriate standards would be upheld going forward.
The second category assessed was hygienic food handling.
This encompassed how food is prepared, cooked, reheated, cooled, and stored on the premises.
The third category involved the cleanliness and overall condition of the building and its facilities, including the layout, ventilation, hand washing stations, and pest management measures.
Both of these areas were marked as requiring improvement.
The establishment has long been popular with both residents and visitors to the town.
The menu features a variety of dishes including chips and cheese, chicken tenders, regular wings, spicy wings, southern fried chicken, chicken nuggets, peri peri chicken, bucket meals, and family bucket meals.
The takeaway has been contacted for a response to the inspection findings.
