Classical violinist Nigel Kennedy is scheduled to appear in Oxford as part of his first significant British tour in over fifteen years.

The acclaimed musician will perform at the New Theatre on Monday, October 12, on the Virtuoso tour.

This tour follows a previous sold-out engagement last year, when Kennedy performed with the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall in London.

Kennedy has noted that locations with smaller populations offer a distinctive atmosphere for performances.

Kennedy will be accompanied by Alec Dankworth on double bass.

Dankworth is the son of the late jazz musician John Dankworth and vocalist Cleo Laine.

Cellist Peter Adams completes the ensemble.

Both musicians reside in the Oxfordshire and Cotswold region.

Kennedy has been characterised by The Guardian as among the most significant violinists Britain has produced.
