A motorist with 17 penalty points on their licence was discovered driving while disqualified during a routine traffic check conducted by Thames Valley Police.

The incident occurred when officers pulled over a Nissan vehicle on the Southern Bypass Road in Oxford during the early hours of the bank holiday weekend.

Enquiries revealed the driver was uninsured and held only a provisional licence, with 17 penalty points recorded against their record.

The driver had been disqualified from holding a full licence until 2027.

Following the stop, officers established that the individual had provided inaccurate personal details during the interaction.

Officers subsequently used fingerprint verification equipment to confirm the driver’s identity.

The driver was reported for multiple road traffic offences and the vehicle was taken into police custody.
