A 28-year-old man has appeared at crown court after admitting to ten criminal offences linked to a series of break-ins at businesses across Oxford earlier this year.

Ethan Jenkins, who has no fixed address, targeted establishments in the Little Clarendon Street area, including George & Davis Ice Cream, hair salons Mahogany and Blushes, and the Duke of Cambridge cocktail bar.

Further offences related to a break-in at Walters of Oxford on Turl Street, a retailer well-known for its suits and academic clothing.

Jenkins had previously entered guilty pleas at Oxford Magistrates’ Court to four counts of theft from shops, four counts of non-dwelling burglary with intent to steal, one count of non-dwelling burglary involving theft, and one count of burglary at a residential property with intent to steal.

The criminal activity took place on June 10, with Jenkins subsequently arrested on June 19 and placed in custody the following day.

Sentencing had been scheduled for August 28 at Oxford Crown Court, though proceedings were delayed due to the unavailability of a defence barrister.

A new hearing date has been set for September 18 at the same court.

The Duke of Cambridge, operated by Julian Rosser, has described itself on its website as Oxford’s longest-established cocktail bar, having opened in 1981.

Rosser has indicated that the incident presented an opportunity to restructure the business.
