IKEA launches permanent price cuts with KALLAX at £49 and HEMNES daybed at £279

The furniture retailer has launched a permanent cost-reduction initiative covering hundreds of items available through physical outlets and digital platforms.

The programme commenced on August 28 and encompasses an extensive selection of furnishings and household goods.

Company representatives stated that the initiative enables shoppers to access reduced prices on both popular items and everyday necessities, whether browsing in branches or online.

The KALLAX shelving system is among the products included in the promotion, with its price set to drop to £49 from the previous £60, representing a reduction of 18 percent.

The HEMNES convertible daybed, designed to function as seating, a single bed, a double bed, and storage accommodation, will see its price fall from £329 to £279, a decrease of 15 percent.

Beyond these reductions, more than one thousand store-exclusive special offers are being provided, with savings reaching as high as 25 percent.

The company announced that from September 7 through November 1, shoppers visiting branches throughout the country can obtain 20 percent off blankets, bed covers, candles, lighting fixtures, selected floor and table lamps, seasonal curtains, duvets and cooking equipment.

The Swedish flatpack furniture giant traces its origins to 1943, when teenager Ingvar Kamprad established the business by selling stationery and accessories.

Four years later, the enterprise shifted focus toward furniture production after receiving financial support from his father, who rewarded the young entrepreneur’s academic achievements.

The adoption of flatpack design in 1953 addressed logistical challenges associated with transporting assembled pieces.

During the 1950s, the company consolidated its position in its home market before extending operations to neighbouring Denmark and Norway during the following decade.

The 1970s marked the beginning of international expansion, with retail operations established across multiple territories including Singapore, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, Austria, Canada, Australia, and Kuwait.

The first British retail location opened its doors in Warrington in 1987, initiating what would become substantial growth within the United Kingdom.

Currently, the company maintains a workforce of approximately 12,000 personnel distributed across 22 stores throughout Britain.
