Henley mansion Sagamore back on market for £5m after 2012 record sale

A substantial residence in Henley that previously achieved recognition among the highest-value transactions recorded in South Oxfordshire has returned to the property market.

The property, located in Lower Shiplake near Henley, carries a price tag of £5million, representing a considerable increase from its previous sale price.

Records indicate that in January 2012, the dwelling sold for £3.6million, securing the tenth position among the most valuable properties ever purchased in the South Oxfordshire region since official Land Registry documentation commenced in 1999.

Known as Sagamore, the dwelling is a distinctive 1920s construction featuring Tudor-inspired architecture.

The property occupies an extensive stretch of riverbank along the Thames, equipped with two wet boathouses and hard mooring facilities.

Those familiar with the waterway will recognise the building, which presents timber-framed facades, decorative stained glass, and prominent chimneys.

The accommodation spans generous proportions, comprising a reception hall, sitting room, dining room, and river room alongside a gym, cinema room, and study.

The sleeping quarters include a master suite and five additional double bedrooms, each furnished with private bathroom facilities.

Recent improvements have seen the introduction of underfloor heating throughout the property.

Original period features have been preserved, including a vaulted ceiling in the entrance hall and a balcony overlooking the waterway.

The grounds extend to 1.2 acres, reaching down to the river, and incorporate landscaped terraces suitable for outdoor entertaining.

Two gated entry points provide access to a driveway offering parking provision for up to ten vehicles.
