Eight organisations have joined a collaborative network dedicated to achieving carbon neutrality across Oxfordshire.

The partnership connecting environmental stakeholders has expanded its roster of participants, bringing together entities from governmental, commercial, and grassroots spheres to advance decarbonisation efforts throughout the region.

The latest cohort of participants encompasses environmental conservation groups, agricultural development centres, rural community networks, countryside preservation societies, housing developers, building firms, transportation providers, and bicycle-based delivery services.

These newcomers contribute specialised knowledge spanning ecological land stewardship, agricultural innovation, emission-reducing construction practices, and environmentally conscious logistics solutions.

Philip Sharman, presiding over the collaborative network, expressed enthusiasm about the expanding partnership.

He noted that the new members represent sectors vital to Oxfordshire’s journey towards net zero emissions, ranging from food production and landscape management to building development and green transportation.

Sharman explained that the partnership facilitates knowledge exchange between organisations, enables valuable networking, and creates opportunities for collaborative work on common environmental objectives.

He emphasised that a broader and more varied membership base generates increased potential to transform innovative concepts and shared aspirations into tangible outcomes.

The network’s existing initiatives encompass advocating for sustainable transportation methods, enhancing energy efficiency practices, upgrading building stock through retrofitting programmes, developing workforce skills for the green economy, and strengthening resilience against climate impacts.

Councillor Anna Railton, serving as Oxford City Council’s deputy leader with responsibility for planning and carbon reduction, stated that addressing climate challenges demands coordinated effort throughout Oxfordshire and across all sectors of the economy.

She expressed optimism regarding the expanding capabilities of the partnership in domains including food production, natural environment management, construction, and mobility solutions.
