Commercial establishments in an Oxfordshire town have reported experiencing abusive behaviour and intimidation, according to authorities.

Thames Valley Police indicated that officers responded to accounts of individuals drinking alcohol in public spaces creating disturbances along Bridge Street in Banbury on Friday, August 28.

According to a force representative, employees at local businesses described being subjected to harassing conduct, verbal abuse, and menacing behaviour.

The representative emphasised that such conduct is entirely unacceptable and that commercial workers are entitled to carry out their duties in a secure environment.

No individual should have to endure intimidation, abusive language, or threatening conduct merely as part of performing their work responsibilities.

Following their presence in the area, officers examined closed-circuit television recordings alongside other investigative steps and located the woman connected to the incident.

The representative stated that police visited her residential property and addressed the matter through a Community Resolution, which includes a prohibition from the establishment.

The force additionally served a Community Protection Warning, making clear that any additional anti-social conduct could lead to increased enforcement measures and additional police intervention.

The representative added that the Banbury Neighbourhood Team would maintain close collaboration with commercial enterprises, partner organisations, and residents to address anti-social conduct and preserve the town centre as an inviting location for all.
