Thames Valley Police have confirmed they are investigating reports of a wildlife offence in Oxford following the death of a pigeon.

Officers were alerted to an incident on Plover Drive in which two adolescents allegedly dislodged the bird from a tree using a catapult before it was set upon by three small terrier breed dogs accompanying them.

The incident took place at approximately 6.50pm on August 24.

Investigators have now issued descriptions of the two suspects.

The first individual was observed wearing a black sleeveless vest, dark trousers, black shoes featuring white soles, and a black-and-white peaked cap positioned backwards on the head.

Police believe he was also in possession of a catapult device.

The second suspect was reportedly dressed in a light-coloured shirt, blue denim jeans, and had medium-length brown hair.

He was additionally observed carrying an item that has yet to be identified.

Anyone who witnessed the events unfold, recognises the individuals from the descriptions provided, or possesses relevant dashcam footage capturing the Plover Drive area between 6.30pm and 7pm on the specified date, is urged to contact Thames Valley Police.

Authorities emphasised that wildlife-related offences have a significant negative impact on communities, and reports targeting wild animals are treated with the utmost seriousness.
