A temporary exhibition celebrating Cowley’s manufacturing heritage has opened at Templars Square Shopping Centre.

The display, running from August 23 to 29, commemorates the centenary of the Pressed Steel Company, which was established in 1926.

At least seven vintage vehicles will be shown, among them a 1960 Wolseley 6/99 previously used by police forces.

A former works ambulance belonging to the company and a Prestcold refrigerator will also be exhibited.

Tanya Field, a local automobile enthusiast responsible for arranging the showcase, stated that the company represents a significant element of Cowley’s past, with numerous families in the area maintaining ties to the factory.

She noted the importance of returning to Templars Square to observe the milestone and present that heritage to the local population.

Beyond vehicle bodywork and panels, the exhibition includes various other items manufactured or utilized by the firm, such as protective headgear and fuel containers.

Historical images and documentation will provide guests with additional context regarding Cowley’s industrial background.

Carla Scaroni, the shopping centre’s manager, observed that the company holds considerable importance in local history, with many residents possessing personal connections to the facility.

She expressed satisfaction at hosting the collection and enabling visitors to examine vehicles and artefacts connected to the enterprise.

The exhibition operates during standard centre opening times.
