A Viking invasion is set to take over the Chiltern Open Air Museum during the August Bank Holiday weekend.

The two-day event will occur on Sunday, August 30 and Bank Holiday Monday, August 31.

Visitors will experience a living history interpretation of the Viking era through battle demonstrations, narrative sessions, and interactive experiences.

A reenactment group will portray Viking warriors alongside Saxon characters and village inhabitants, demonstrating period crafts and skills.

According to museum representatives, the programme includes combat performances, displays featuring birds of prey, drumming performances on the Sunday, opportunities to meet reenactors, and a weapons training session designed for younger visitors.

Attendees can participate in rowing a Viking vessel, explore the encampment to observe cooking methods, and learn about textile techniques including dyeing and weaving.

Additional activities encompass bracelet-making workshops, target practice with bows and axes, and tastings of traditional mead.

The museum shop stocks bottles of mead for purchase.

The event welcomes families with children of all ages.
