A 31-year-old defendant is facing multiple charges including attempted murder at Oxford Crown Court, where proceedings involve eight men in total over incidents occurring on September 13 last year.

Romario Qatja, whose address is Pipkin Way in Oxford, has entered pleas of not guilty to charges comprising attempted murder, causing serious injury through dangerous driving, affray, and wounding with intent.

The attempted murder charge relates to an alleged assault on Rabar Pirot that occurred on St Clement’s Street.

Mr Pirot provided testimony to the jury on August 25.

He explained that he travelled to Oxford on September 13 to meet with companions.

One individual within his party was identified as Alan Mohammadi, whom Mr Pirot characterised as an acquaintance known through a mutual contact.

Evidence previously presented to the jury established that Mr Mohammadi had reportedly been involved as an alleged victim in a physical altercation outside Hank’s Bar on Queen Street during the early morning hours of the same date.

When questioned regarding this earlier incident, Mr Pirot recounted that Mr Mohammadi had described being attacked by multiple individuals, including some originating from Albania.

According to Mr Pirot’s account, Mr Mohammadi stated that other parties had expressed a desire to resolve the confrontation and discuss the matter.

Mr Pirot testified that representatives from his group engaged with the Albanian individuals, exchanging handshakes before both parties departed, resulting in what he described as a peaceful conclusion to the dispute between the two groups.

Following this resolution, Mr Pirot stated that his party sought to find a venue where they could obtain food.

Mr Pirot reported that an individual employed his vehicle as an offensive instrument, striking him and resulting in a fractured leg.

He described the vehicle accelerating rapidly toward them, causing excruciating pain.

He observed that his leg had sustained a break and that his head had collided with the windscreen.

The vehicle subsequently halted and attempted to strike other members of the group.

The car then reversed and made another approach attempt.

Upon questioning whether the vehicle made additional contact, Mr Pirot confirmed that no further impact occurred because one of his companions seized him by his jacket and pulled him to safety.

He stated that it was evident the driver was targeting him specifically and that the individual had intended to cause his death.

Seven additional defendants are undergoing trial in connection with alleged events from that same date.

Samyan Khdir, aged 21 and residing at Poplar High Street in London, faces a charge of possessing an offensive weapon, specifically a sword, on Rectory Road.

Eyub Hussani, aged 25 and living at Warley Avenue in Dagenham, is charged with possessing an offensive weapon, described as an elongated wooden implement, at the same location.

Gabriel Dos Santos, aged 28 and resident of Richmond Road in Oxford; Arger Poleshi, aged 20; and Armanto Tzourtzi, aged 24, are facing charges of affray, with the latter two defendants having no fixed residential address.

Indrit Ndoj, aged 35 and residing at St Martins Road in Oxford, and Fiqiri Noka, aged 27 and resident of Mogridge Drive in Oxford, are additionally charged with affray.

Tzourtzi, Poleshi, Noka, Ndoj and Dos Santos have entered not guilty pleas to the affray charges.

Khdir and Hussani have pleaded not guilty to the offensive weapon possession allegations.

The trial at Oxford Crown Court remains in progress.
