Mahnoor Cheema has secured a place at Oxford University after completing 23 A-level examinations.

The teenager, who turned 18 recently, achieved an IQ score of 161, surpassing those recorded for renowned physicists Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking.

Oxford offered her an unconditional place to pursue a medical degree.

Her academic journey began at Henrietta Barnett School in north-west London, where she completed 34 GCSE qualifications.

Following her secondary education, she initially intended to attempt 31 A-level subjects before reducing her plans after teachers expressed concerns about the demands such a workload would place upon her.

During the initial two months of her sixth-form studies, Cheema obtained four A* grades.

Her most recent examination results confirmed additional A* achievements in law and history, alongside passing grades in French and physics.

Her curriculum encompassed a broad spectrum of disciplines spanning psychology, sociology, law, business studies, accounting, economics, Latin, German, computer science, film studies, politics, classical civilisation, mathematics, further mathematics, geography, media studies, physics, chemistry, biology, English literature, and statistics.

Cheema maintained that limiting herself to the conventional three A-level subjects would have left her feeling unstimulated.

She characterised burnout as a conscious decision rather than an inevitable outcome of intensive study, suggesting that enjoyment of material mitigates exhaustion.

She described her ability to absorb, analyse, and evaluate information as instinctive.

Cheema stated that managing multiple subjects did not exceed her capabilities and that her numerous interests justified her subject choices.

She expressed the belief that exceptional ability should be developed rather than constrained.

Cheema was born in the United Kingdom before relocating with her family to Lahore, Pakistan in 2010.

The household returned to Britain in 2016, settling in Slough, Berkshire.

Her mother Tayyaba Cheema, who holds a master’s degree in economics, observed that her daughter displayed exceptional qualities from childhood.

By the age of six, Cheema had worked through all seven volumes of the Harry Potter series.

At eleven years old, she had committed the complete Oxford English Dictionary to memory.

Cheema has aspirations to deliver a TED talk in the future.

Regarding her approach to study, Cheema explained that reading material directly resulted in retention without requiring note-taking, which she considered inefficient.

While acknowledging that her memory was not photographic, she regarded it as highly effective.

Her preferred academic areas were mathematics and the sciences.

Cheema adhered to an unconventional rest schedule, sleeping for approximately three hours following school before rising at seven in the evening and returning to bed at two in the morning.

Her mother coordinated a structured study timetable while ensuring Cheema maintained social connections, travel opportunities, and leisure activities.

Both parents, including her father Usman Cheema who works as a barrister, refrained from applying pressure beyond supporting their daughter’s own choices.

Her mother’s guidance emphasised performing any undertaking to the highest possible standard.
