Highly-rated Lyford garage AT Automotive in liquidation with £264K debts

A Wantage-area automotive business has entered administration following a £260,000 financial collapse.

Insolvency practitioners from Parker Walsh were brought in on August 20 after a creditors’ meeting voted to wind up AT Automotive Ltd, which operated from Lyford.

The resolution stated that the company would be wound up voluntarily, with Molly Monks of Parker Walsh appointed as liquidator at the Victoria House address in Bramhall.

The company offered vehicle maintenance, bodywork repairs, collision work, mechanical servicing, MOT examinations and roadside assistance.

Molly Monks, managing director at Parker Walsh, confirmed that AT Automotive Ltd ceased trading in June 2026 and is no longer operating. She said the company’s financial problems stemmed from its failure to handle persistent debt. She added that the business had no staff members, so the administration resulted in no job losses.

The firm is located in Lyford near Wantage and holds a 4.9-star rating from almost 150 Google reviews, with customers frequently praising the quality of service and the welcoming nature of the team.

Gareth Burdett described the customer care and technical knowledge as outstanding. Pat Brown expressed satisfaction with the service received.

On the Companies House portal, the business appears as having missed the deadline for its most recent accounts, which should have been filed by July 31 2026. Its confirmation statement was also overdue, having been due by June 19 2026.

The most recent filed accounts cover the period ending October 31 2024 and show liabilities of £264,292, a modest increase compared with the previous year. More than £88,000 relates to unpaid VAT, with a comparable sum owed to suppliers and £66,772 to HMRC for tax and national insurance. Other creditors were owed just over £12,000, while approximately £5,000 was outstanding on bank facilities. During the year, the company had an average workforce of 10 employees.
