Two students from an Oxfordshire secondary school are set to begin studies at Cambridge University after accumulating six top grades between them.

Molly and Finley, both pupils at Burford School, attained the highest possible mark in multiple subjects and have secured places at the internationally renowned institution, which Times rankings place joint third globally.

Molly obtained four A* grades and will pursue natural sciences at the Cambridge campus, while Finley achieved two A* grades alongside one A grade and will study history and politics.

Jessie is another Burford School pupil heading to the London School of Economics with three A* grades, also for a history and politics degree. Elias will study mathematics at Durham University after gaining two A* grades and one A grade.

Emily and Charlotte are both bound for the University of Sheffield, having each recorded one A* grade and two A grades. Emily intends to study politics while Charlotte will pursue biochemistry.

Felix will attend the University of Oxford to read history, having previously deferred his entry and completed the year with exclusively A grades.

Headteacher Matthew Albrighton expressed his view that these outcomes represent one of the most impressive performances in the school’s long history, which stretches back to the 1500s. He stated that staff were extremely pleased and recognised these accomplishments resulted from pupils’ dedication combined with the school’s sustained support.

Figures show approximately ten percent of all grades awarded at the school were A*, with a third of students obtaining either an A* or an A. Sixty percent of grades fell within the A* to B range. A total of twenty pupils secured at least one A* grade.
