A young England rugby player is celebrating after his A-level grades earned him a spot at Loughborough University.

Eighteen-year-old Luke Taylor will move to the university’s campus in the Midlands next year, which has an excellent reputation for sport. He attended Cokethorpe School in the Witney area and earned two Bs and a C in economics, mathematics and physical education. He plans to pursue economics studies at Loughborough while continuing his rugby career.

Taylor operates as a full back or winger and has already represented his country at under-18 level, having toured both Singapore and Malaysia with national squads.

His family expressed satisfaction that he had secured his university place.

Other students at the independent school were also pleased with their outcomes, including Nathan Hunt who attained two A* grades and one A in economics, politics and geography.

Hunt stated he performed better than anticipated and is currently weighing up possibilities, having originally intended to study business at Durham University.

Eighteen-year-old Nathan Hunt attended Cokethorpe School alongside his twin brother, who also gained admission to his preferred institution. The brother will study military history at Kent University.

According to Hunt, it marks a wonderful day for their parents, and this evening he and friends intend to explore Oxford, beginning their evening at a Wetherspoons pub.

Cokethorpe headteacher Dr Sarah Squire commented that the school takes enormous pride in their Year 13 cohort and everything they have accomplished. She noted that the grades demonstrate the students’ dedication and effort, making this a truly celebratory occasion.
