A team of volunteers is attempting to rescue a magazine serving a South Oxfordshire community after it ceased publication half a year ago following six decades of continuous operation.
Window on Wallingford has served the town since 1962, distributing local news and goings-on to residents without charge. The publication relied entirely on unpaid helpers, though enthusiasm declined in recent times. By February, a solitary individual bore responsibility for producing the monthly edition.
With no magazine available for the past six months, volunteers assembled into a fresh committee, pledging to revive the beloved publication by launching a fundraising initiative to finance its return.
Among those involved is 48-year-old Dean Valler, who works in internal communications. He stated the team intends to introduce a fresh, dynamic appearance to the newsletter.
He mentioned they draw plenty of creative ideas from residing in a town abundant with activity and diverse topics worthy of coverage. The team feels motivated by the prospect of seeing the publication distributed once more, keeping residents informed.
He added that supporters should watch for their mascot, Wowly.
He noted the priority is securing backing from the public.
He explained they are a modest collective of passionate volunteers willing to contribute their time, and would welcome any contributions to cover expenses for the inaugural edition, turning their vision into reality for the benefit of the entire town.
The target is to collect £1,500 to resume operations, with assistance coming from Wallingford for All CIC.
