Plans have been submitted to Cherwell District Council for exterior renovations at The Six Bells pub in Mill Street, Kidlington, including the installation of five new signage units.
The application proposes adding two illuminated signs to the building’s front facade and three signs on an existing post positioned near the entrance.
The renovation also includes altering the external render from cream to green and changing window frames from white to cream.
The primary signage, measuring 1.6 metres in length and 1.3 metres in height, would be positioned on the front elevation facing the road. This sign features six free-cut bell symbols, backlit by a pair of 30-watt LED floodlights.
A second signage element measuring 1.1 metres tall and 0.7 metres wide would be attached to the lower-left section of the front wall. An identical version would appear on both sides of the post at its base.
Another sign, 1.1 metres high and 0.8 metres wide, displaying both the bell motif and the establishment’s name, would mount to a bracket extending from the post’s top and receive illumination from above via two electric lights.
The business transitioned to new operators Nigel Worth and Claire Brewis in October 2025, with the venue having reopened after a brief closure of only two days.
Cherwell District Council is anticipated to issue its determination by June 4.
