A man has been sentenced to pay over £200 after stealing hair straighteners from an electrical retailer.
Matthew Jakes, aged 37, residing at Camm Drive in Milton, took the £125 styling device from the Lamarsh Road location in Oxfordshire on August 29, 2025.
He pleaded guilty to the theft, alongside driving without insurance and without a valid licence on Walton Street in Oxford, which occurred on August 4, 2025. He was operating a white Ford Focus during those driving violations.
Jakes received fines totalling £160, was mandated to pay a £64 victim surcharge, with payments to be collected through deductions from his benefits.
Additionally, six penalty points were added to his driving licence.
The matter was combined with previous offences, and Jakes was instructed to make payments of £20 per month beginning May 13, 2026.
