At Oxford Magistrates’ Court, several cases were heard recently.

Stephen Hutchinson, aged 38 and residing in Edgecombe Road, Oxford, admitted an offence of using threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour with the intention of causing fear of or provoking unlawful violence. The incident occurred in Oxford on March 9 the previous year. He was directed to pay £200 in costs, a victim surcharge of £114 and £50 in compensation. Additionally, he must carry out 80 hours of unpaid work within a 12-month period.

Malcolm Hall, 37 years old and of no fixed address, entered a guilty plea to one count of shoplifting in Oxford on March 1 this year. The stolen goods were valued at £31.50. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £48 along with a fine of £120.

Craig Ballantyne, 37, from Coriander Way in Oxford, confessed to multiple counts of shoplifting in Oxford during July the previous year. The total value of the stolen items came to £434.60. He received an 18-week prison sentence and was ordered to pay £446.50 in compensation.

Hanis Bhuiyan, 24, of Cedar Road, Oxford, admitted failing to provide identifying information about a driver in Kidlington who was alleged to have committed an offence on June 26 the previous year. Bhuiyan was ordered to pay £85 in costs, a victim surcharge of £157 and a fine of £392. He also received six penalty points on his driving licence.

Steven Tomkinson, 46 and from Tudor Close in Wallingford, admitted speeding on the A4 Berkeley Avenue in Reading on June 5 the previous year, where his vehicle was recorded at 36mph in a 30mph zone. He also admitted to speeding on a 50mph section of the A34 at Wytham on May 15 the previous year, travelling at 60mph. He was fined £72 and received three penalty points.

Filip Sobieraj, 34, of Bush Road in Tipton, Sandwell, admitted two counts of drug driving on the M40 near Oxford in a Ford Transit van on October 8 the previous year. He was ordered to pay £85 in costs and a victim surcharge of £114. He must complete 140 hours of unpaid work within 12 months and was disqualified from driving for three years.

Antonio Jones, 59 and from London Road in Headington, Oxford, admitted breaching a community protection notice in Queen Street, Oxford on January 18 this year. He was fined £30 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £12.

Ionel-Ovidiu Plesca, 20, of Lea Road in Wolverhampton, admitted driving a Ford Transit on the M40 at Bicester without third party insurance on October 14 the previous year. He also admitted driving without a valid MOT certificate on the same occasion. He was ordered to pay £85 in costs, a victim surcharge of £123 and a fine of £307. He received six penalty points on his licence.

Russell Hawkes, 39, from Mustang Road in Grove, Wantage, admitted one count of drug driving in a Volkswagen Touran on Ock Street in Abingdon on December 4 the previous year. He also admitted driving with an obscured or indistinguishable registration mark on the same occasion. He was ordered to pay £85 in costs, a victim surcharge of £48 and a fine of £120. He was banned from driving for three years.
