Wychwood School in Oxford is pioneering advanced post-16 education through two nationally recognised specialist programmes.

The institution has introduced AI Futures Oxford and The Green Room, providing intensive instruction in artificial intelligence and conservatoire-standard performing arts for those aged 16 and above, irrespective of their current place of study.

AI Futures encompasses a complete A-level qualification in artificial intelligence alongside an extension curriculum created in collaboration with professionals from industry and academia.

According to Jane Evans, headmistress at Wychwood School, artificial intelligence is reshaping all areas of contemporary existence, yet meaningful, ethically-grounded and academically rigorous options for young people remain extremely limited. She stated that AI Futures changes the way teenagers can develop AI literacy.

The initiative combines hands-on technical instruction with exploration of ethical and social implications, drawing on practical examples and real-world scenarios.

The Green Room was created in conjunction with the Oxford School of Drama, merging an A-level in performing arts with conservatoire-level coaching delivered outside normal school timetables.

Ed Hicks, principal of the Oxford School of Drama, explained that their work centres on the fundamentals of acting and the conviction that rigorous training, teamwork and imaginative development enable performers to achieve exceptional standards. He expressed pride in the collaboration offering younger students an insight into the dedication and demands of conservatoire-style actor training.

Both initiatives welcome participants from any educational institution and aim to expand access to premium, specialised instruction without interfering with current studies.
