Oxford United Women skipper Naomi Bedeau has been honoured with a Players Off The Pitch accolade by the Football Black List.

Bedeau earned the prize for her efforts with the Beat The Block charity, which focuses on supporting girls and young women from marginalised communities.

The 24-year-old defender moved to the U’s last summer following her departure from Nottingham Forest and was promptly elected as club captain for the upcoming 2025/26 campaign.

As the founder and chief executive of Beat The Block, which launched just twelve months ago, Bedeau also serves as a supporter of the Show Racism the Red Card organisation.

Speaking about the circumstances and her reaction to the honour, the Grenada international explained: There exists an initiative called the Football Black List established by Rodney Hinds and Leon Mann MBE, two remarkable black men, with the purpose of highlighting the contributions individuals make in football and especially those working in grass roots settings.

They present awards in particular communities and regions, and hold a national prize that recognises black individuals involved in the sport.

Seeing the other recipients of these honours has been truly remarkable.

Being included among such football figures and having achieved this so soon after launching Beat The Block, I am extremely thankful for the nomination and the votes of support, and the awards ceremony takes place next month so I am eagerly anticipating that event.
