A woman who made an allegation that a man sexually assaulted her 25 years ago told police she experienced feelings of revulsion and fear following the claimed incident.
Shaun Smith, residing on Bernwood Road in Headington, is facing proceedings at Oxford Crown Court.
The 46-year-old defendant has entered denials of guilt regarding a single count of rape, one charge of sexual assault, and two counts of assault by penetration.
The alleged rape occurred in 2000, with the sexual assault claimed to have taken place in 2012.
The two penetration assault charges relate to incidents said to have happened in March 2017 and August 2022.
On Tuesday, March 24, jurors viewed two recorded police interviews with the complainant about the initial alleged offence.
Charles Ward-Jackson, presenting the case for the prosecution, previously explained to jurors that the first alleged offence followed an evening out at a Oxford nightclub called Downtown Manhattan in 2000.
At the conclusion of the evening, Smith is said to have been present in a flat in Oxford alongside three other individuals.
The prosecutor informed the jury that the alleged victim was in a sleeping state when she became conscious and discovered that pieces of her clothing had been taken off.
The woman claimed that Smith was engaged in sexual activity with her.
The prosecutor stated that the alleged victim could not have given agreement because she was unconscious. She had no romantic or sexual interest in Smith whatsoever.
She was uncertain how to react. He departed the room, leaving her to weep until she eventually fell asleep.
During the police interview, the woman described going out for an evening in Oxford, consuming some alcoholic drinks, and dozing off on a piece of furniture.
She regained consciousness to find Shaun engaging in intercourse with her. She was frightened and confused about the situation.
She could hear his breathing. She experienced nausea. Shaun was positioned behind her. She observed his hand on her body. He adjusted her clothing and departed.
One cannot give permission while unconscious. She lay down and sobbed. Nothing was mentioned the following day. His actions remained with her.
Jurors had previously heard that the second alleged incident occurred at a property in Sussex in 2012.
Smith is claimed to have climbed into bed with a couple following alcohol consumption. He is then said to have made physical contact of a sexual nature with a woman present.
Jurors heard that the third alleged incident occurred on March 17, 2017 in Headington.
Smith invited a woman to his residence, a proposition she accepted. She went to bed and became awake to discover Smith positioned beside her in bed. She alleged he made sexual contact with her.
The fourth incident occurred on August 6, 2022 at Smith’s residence. A woman fell asleep on his settee and awoke to find Smith beside her making sexual contact, jurors were informed.
The prosecutor told jurors that the first, second and fourth incidents were brought to police attention in 2022.
The case remains ongoing.
