A fresh interactive play corridor has launched at a popular leisure facility in Oxford.

The vibrant area at Leys Pool and Leisure Centre seeks to motivate youngsters and families to embrace movement and discover active ways of travelling through entertaining activities.

Revealed on March 7, the play corridor converts an ordinary passage into an engaging pathway complete with bright floor designs and interactive prompts crafted to make strolling more attractive.

Adam Godwin, Active Communities Manager for Leisure Solutions Community Trust, explained that this demonstrates a joint pledge to expanding options for exercise and health in the neighbourhood. The organisation expressed pride in backing efforts that enable residents to stay active through pursuits that slot effortlessly into everyday life. The Play Corridor showcases how towns can inspire increased movement via imaginative and hospitable environments.

The initiative resulted from teamwork between Oxford City Council, LSCT, Active Oxfordshire, and individuals who use the centre. Ellie, Healthy Active Neighbourhoods Manager at Active Oxfordshire, pointed out that the project stands out because it was not merely planned for local residents but created alongside them. The space now bursts with colour and energy, and it is wonderful to witness it already uniting visitors.

A formal ribbon-cutting event celebrated the launch. Chewe Munkonge, Oxford City Council cabinet member overseeing health and fairness in Oxford, noted that the new Play Corridor brings vibrant energy to Leys Pool and Leisure Centre. The programme exemplifies how physical activity can be made both reachable and enjoyable.
