A clothing brand that was among the initial businesses to launch when Westgate Oxford received its £440m development has shut its outlet at the centre.

Hugo Boss departed from the busy city centre retail complex this month, having initially commenced trading in October 2017 as part of the significant transformation of the development.

The company featured as one of the founding traders during the shopping centre’s new chapter, alongside John Lewis, Primark and Next.

A spokesperson for Westgate Oxford stated that Hugo Boss has now ceased operations.

The representative added that the centre remains dedicated to establishing Westgate Oxford as a dynamic and diverse shopping destination, with new tenants including Sephora, The Beefy Boys, and the upcoming arrival of Lego scheduled for spring, alongside recent store expansions by Oliver Bonas, Goldsmiths and Superdrug.

Further announcements regarding additional brands coming to the centre will be shared soon, the spokesperson said.

The closest Hugo Boss locations to Oxford are now the outlets in Bicester Village, Swindon or Reading.

Attempts were made to obtain a statement from Hugo Boss but no response was received prior to publication.

Two other retailers at the complex are currently holding liquidation events, namely Claire’s and Russell and Bromley.

Both companies entered administration during the earlier part of this year.

Meanwhile, the forthcoming Lego outlet is anticipated to open in May, though an exact date has yet to be confirmed.
