A fundraising convoy of farm vehicles made its way through Oxfordshire at the weekend, with dozens of tractors taking to the roads in support of a youth agricultural organisation.

Around 40 tractors travelled through the western part of the county on Sunday 22 March.

The procession set off at 10.30am from Flats Farm in the vicinity of Swinbrook, heading onward to pass through Minster Lovell at 10.45am, Witney’s Bridge Street at 11am and the village of Hailey at 11.15am.

The route continued via Leafield at 11.30am before arriving at Burford High Street at noon.

Participants drove tractors of differing dimensions, with numerous vehicles towing trailers filled with passengers, ranging from just a couple of individuals to considerably more than ten on some occasions.

Councillor Liam Walker posted on social media that it was wonderful to see everyone on the tractor run return safely to Burford following their journey in support of Witney Junior Young Farmers. He offered congratulations to all those who took part.

Each tractor required a £20 participation fee, with funds directed towards the Witney Junior Young Farmers group.

The organisation aims to provide educational opportunities for young people about farming, household skills, rural living and associated topics.

The junior section gathers on alternate Friday evenings between 7.30pm and 9pm, welcoming those aged between ten and sixteen regardless of whether they come from an agricultural background.

A club representative stated that the Young Farmers Organisation provides something quite special for young people.
