A prominent British retail brand is departing from UK town centres permanently as it prepares to shut its final outlets within the coming weeks.

The video games chain will cease operations at its last three locations in April, bringing down the curtain on thirty years of presence on main streets throughout Britain.

The company announced it would shutter its final three branches in Dudley, Lancaster, and Sutton in April 2026, after falling into administration earlier this year.

At its peak, the business ran more than 300 outlets across the nation but has been shutting them down progressively over recent years.

While the company will be shutting its last three independent branches, its website will remain active for purchases.

Additionally, it will maintain some in-store presence, stocking products in excess of 200 Sports Direct and House of Fraser locations throughout the country.

Throughout recent years, the company shut locations as rental agreements came to an end and vacated its offices in Basingstoke in 2025.

The decision to close its final three outlets comes after administrators were appointed in January.

Although the company is moving away from standalone branches, executives have previously maintained that selling physical games remains fundamental to the operation.

Managing director Nick Arran has characterised gaming as the chain’s fundamental activity and highlighted that demand for disc-based products persists, particularly special editions and presents that buyers wish to wrap rather than send as a digital code.

In 2023, he stated that the company was protecting physical formats in an increasingly digital marketplace, asserting that it would persist as the last outlet for physical video games.

Following news of the store closures, the company stated that gift cards and eVouchers remain valid for two years from purchase, with any remaining balance becoming void upon the card’s expiration date. These vouchers cannot be used by customers outside the United Kingdom, and the specific closure date for the final branches has yet to be announced by the company.
