Oxford United has unveiled a one-of-a-kind replica shirt that has become the club’s quickest-selling jersey ever.
The garment was created as a partnership with the University of Oxford’s Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology to mark the launch of the museum’s display titled ‘In Bloom: How Plants Changed Our World.’
This exclusive jersey surpassed the first-day sales figures of Oxford United’s 2025/26 home, away, and third kits combined.
The design draws from the Ashmolean’s holdings, featuring a reinterpretation of John Ruskin’s artwork ‘Study of Wild Rose.’
The jersey displays the Ashmolean Museum crest on its reverse, representing the bond between Oxfordshire’s sole professional football organisation and Britain’s earliest public museum.
The garment also incorporates imagery from Oxford Botanic Garden, highlighting the intersection of athletics, creativity, and narrative.
With only a small batch manufactured, supporters are advised to buy through the online store before supplies are exhausted.
When stock depletes, no further copies will be manufactured.
The Ashmolean Museum, established in 1683, houses vast collections spanning fine art and archaeology, holding an important position within Oxford’s arts landscape.
The ‘In Bloom’ showcase examines the histories of several iconic British blooms such as roses, tulips, camellias, and peonies, investigating their influence on culture, science, and everyday life.
Showcasing in excess of one hundred objects and pieces, the exhibition demonstrates the ingenuity of pioneering botanists and the commercial routes they established worldwide.
The exhibition runs through to 16 August 2026.
