Oxford mouth-painting artist to feature in MFPA 70th anniversary exhibition

Published on

An artist from Oxford who paints using his mouth will display his work at a significant upcoming exhibition. Christopher Keith Jansz will present his pieces as part of an event celebrating the 70th year of the Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists, taking place at The Lindley Hall in London between April 14th and 18th. The exhibition, which has no admission charge, will feature more than 120 artworks produced by creators from 33 nations, all made solely with the mouth or feet. Jansz’s collection centres on impressionist watercolours, regularly portraying Venetian scenery, arrangements of objects and human forms. Tom Yendell, who serves on the UK board of the Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists, stated that the exhibition serves as both a celebration and a moment of contemplation. Over seven decades, the association’s creators have transformed how people view disability and expanded the definition of artistic production. The venue will present not merely a display of work but an active tribute to human determination and creative vigour. The organisation was established in 1956 by German creator Erich Stegmann and currently assists 720 artists worldwide across 71 countries. Those attending the exhibition will have the opportunity to encounter some of the creators, each producing artwork despite significant physical limitations resulting from congenital conditions, injuries or illness. Alison Lapper, holder of an MBE, noted that her involvement with the association has connected her with an international community of creators who comprehend both the difficulties and the rewards of producing work without restrictions. She expressed pride in standing with them to demonstrate to the world what disability cannot diminish: imagination, fortitude and the capacity for expression.
