A family-friendly woodland expedition featuring an egg-themed narrative is set to delight visitors this spring.

The Easter Adventure Trail will be held at High Lodge Farm in Culham, close to Abingdon, from March 28 through April 6.

Geared towards young children and their families, the trail follows the escapades of Eddie the Egg, an adventurous character who chooses to explore the forest rather than remain in his egg carton.

Throughout the 1.2 kilometre woodland path, young visitors will encounter figures such as Dippy Egg, Soldier, Sunny and Scramble, each occupied with their own springtime activities.

Emily Allen, who manages High Lodge Farm alongside her sisters Lucy, Katy and Jess, remarked that the Easter Trail ranks among their most cherished events to stage on the property.

She noted that springtime brings a particular beauty to the location as the woodland awakens, making it an ideal period for families to venture outdoors and explore.

She explained that the experience offers a distinctly different atmosphere from their October Halloween Trail, with Easter focusing on fresh air, exploration and children discovering the natural environment.

She added that creating their egg-themed characters this year has been particularly enjoyable, featuring personalities such as Vincent Van Yolk and Buzzby the Bumble Egg.

Young participants can pick up an activity sheet, tackle various challenges, locate colourful displays and gather letters to decode an Easter-themed word puzzle.

Upon finishing the trail, each child will be given a chocolate reward.

Once families have completed the route, they can unwind at the Play Patch, which features straw bale climbing structures, a sandpit, a farm tractor and oversized garden activities.

Ms Allen noted that numerous interactive elements and play opportunities are scattered throughout the route, with young visitors particularly enjoying sprinting across tyre step obstacles, swinging on rope apparatus, navigating along oversized timber beams, experimenting with walking stilts and squeezing through an expansive tunnel within the woodland.

She observed that watching families create happy memories together in the open air represents precisely why these occasions were established, and Easter celebrations at the farm consistently carry a unique significance.

The farm’s barrel train experience will also be back, providing a tour of the grounds for £3 per person.

High Lodge Farm organises seasonal occasions throughout the year, encompassing the Big Bale Play during the May half-term break and the Spooky Trail alongside the Pumpkin Patch in October.

The trail requires approximately 45 minutes to finish and is suitable for toddlers, primary school pupils and accompanying adults.

Admission costs £6.50 for grown-ups and £8.95 for children aged over one year.

Provisions for children with special educational needs and disabilities are also offered.

Food options will include Oxfordshire burgers and sausages, Jason’s sourdough toasties, professionally prepared hot beverages alongside an assortment of pastries and biscuits.
