Cyclists to ride 200 miles across four counties for Ronald McDonald House

A team of cyclists is tackling a route of roughly 200 miles to collect money for families whose children face serious health conditions.

Employees of the Parkers Properties estate agency, which operates from bases in Witney and Eynsham, will saddle up for the ‘Tour de Parkers’ event scheduled for September 10th and 11th. The riders will travel between all 17 of the company’s branches located throughout Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Hampshire, and Gloucestershire.

The initiative seeks to gather £10,000 for Ronald McDonald House in Oxford, an organisation offering overnight stays to relatives of young patients receiving treatment at the Oxford Children’s Hospital.

Lisa Kay, who heads up Parkers West Oxfordshire, explained that the company’s charitable efforts seven years ago aligned with the concluding stages of the facility’s construction. Several team members have direct ties to the children’s hospital and the accommodation charity, making it a cause that resonates personally with them. They were eager to back Ronald McDonald House in Oxford once more, with donations directed toward the essential services the organisation provides to numerous families in the area.

The previous Tour de Parkers cycling event netted almost £6,000 for the same beneficiary.

Ronald McDonald House Oxford, which welcomed its first guests in April 2020, comprises 62 bedrooms and assists over 1,000 families annually.

The facility includes practical amenities such as cooking areas, washing machines, and outdoor space to help families preserve their normal routines while remaining close to their hospitalised children.
