Pupils have transformed their school grounds through a colourful new planting project.

Students at Benson CofE Primary School in Oxfordshire participated in the initiative, supported by a £200 donation from David Wilson Homes that financed a whole-school bulb planting day.

The event, coordinated by the Benson Nature Group, involved every child planting a bulb on the school’s playing field as part of an environmental education programme.

Tracey Comber, volunteer coordinator at Benson Nature Group, stated that the group was extremely grateful to the housing developer for enabling the spring bulb planting at the school through its generous donation. She noted that watching each child plant their own bulb was wonderful, with visible enjoyment and pride in what they were accomplishing. She added that while such activities might appear straightforward, they provide a powerful means of helping children engage with nature and learn how to care for their school environment.

Students planted Tulip Menton and Bubble Blend bulbs, which are anticipated to flower in the coming months, producing a vibrant display.

Emma Hawkins, sales director at David Wilson Homes Southern, said that the company was pleased to support the primary school and nature group with this planting initiative. She explained that activities like this play a significant part in helping children connect with nature and appreciate the importance of looking after their local environment.

Chiltern Grange is situated on 12 acres of open space in Benson, providing three, four, and five-bedroom homes.
