Motorists in Oxfordshire have been alerted to hazardous driving conditions after dense fog blanketed numerous roads on Friday morning.

The thick fog has significantly reduced visibility across the area, prompting travel organisations to issue guidance to road users.

OxonTravel shared an alert while the county council’s travel information service urged drivers to exercise caution on affected routes.

A message from the account stated that fog was covering many roads throughout Oxfordshire and asked people to take care while travelling.

The Met Office provided additional advice, noting that fog can severely disrupt both road and air transportation due to poor visibility.

Official guidance specifies that vehicle headlights must be activated when visibility drops below 100 metres.

The Met Office also advised that before embarking on a journey in foggy conditions, drivers should verify that all lights, particularly fog lights, are functioning correctly.
