A decorated inn in Oxfordshire is still searching for someone to fill the position left vacant when its Michelin-starred chef moved on.
Sally Abé, who has appeared on television including James Martin’s Saturday Morning programme on ITV, secured victory in the starter course category of the banquet on the 2025 Great British Menu.
The 38-year-old quit her role at The Pem in the capital last spring and took up the position of head of food at The Bull in Charlbury.
The Cotswolds establishment enjoyed a remarkable 2025, earning the title of finest pub in Britain from Pub and Bar Magazine.
Since Ms Abé joined The Bull, the venue also became the sole Oxfordshire establishment included in Time Out’s ranking of the nation’s top 20 dining spots.
The television personality completed her final shift at The Bull in January and shared the news of her exit via her Instagram account.
It has since emerged that nobody has been confirmed to fill Ms Abé’s former position at the Cotswolds inn.
When this publication enquired whether a replacement chef had been recruited, a representative stated there was nothing new to report on that matter at this stage.
Ms Abé intends to launch a fresh dining establishment named Teal in Hackney, London, after revealing the plans on her Instagram page.
She expressed that this restaurant represents the culmination of a 20-year dream finally materialising.
She noted that launching Teal carries profound personal significance as the inaugural venue she has established independently, standing entirely on her own merits, and that this accomplishment fills her with tremendous pride.
After spending years operating within other people’s companies and kitchens, this project represents her placing her own identity, principles and perspective into a space that belongs to her.
Teal by Sally Abé aims to showcase the finest of British cuisine, its heritage, tastes and narratives while advocating for women, backing worthy initiatives and creating an establishment firmly embedded in its local area.
She said she eagerly anticipates welcoming guests through the doors in Hackney and demonstrating precisely what she has been striving to achieve.
