The Oxford Mail has launched a book of condolence following the death of a woman aged between 60 and 69 after a medical emergency on Cowley Road.
Emergency crews, comprising officers carrying firearms and ambulance staff, attended the situation on the busy Oxford thoroughfare at approximately 3pm on Thursday, March 19.
The reason why armed officers were dispatched remains unclear, and authorities offered minimal information about the operation.
A representative stated that the woman, who was in her 60s, passed away due to a medical event.
An unnamed local resident described seeing three police vehicles, officers with weapons, four emergency ambulances and a specialist critical care team at the scene. The streets became completely blocked with traffic, and approximately eight ambulance personnel were on the roadside carrying out cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
