Children’s writer Jo Cotterill and artist Korky Paul have thrown their support behind a schools fundraising initiative.

The effort commemorates the 50th year of Sobell House Hospice in Oxford.

Educational establishments throughout Oxfordshire are participating in a dress-down Pot of Gold Day, where students may arrive in vibrant attire, rainbow-themed garments, or costumes in exchange for a modest contribution.

Cotterill and Paul are lending their backing to the scheme and plan to make appearances at two educational settings during the festivities.

A representative from St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Headington, among the schools involved, expressed that at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary, they are proud to support Sobell House Hospice Charity’s Pot of Gold day, especially as it is part of their 50th anniversary celebrations.

Sobell House is encouraging schools throughout Oxfordshire to join the fundraiser on any weekday during the September to December period.

The recommended contribution stands at one or two pounds, with all money raised going towards the hospice’s services.

The initiative forms part of numerous activities honouring five decades of care delivered by Sobell House, which currently assists approximately 680 individuals simultaneously through specialist palliative and end-of-life support.

The hospice provides care for those in need via its inpatient facility, regional hospitals, and Living Well programme.

Sobell House noted that the Pot of Gold Day presents a chance for schools to paint a rainbow across Oxfordshire while collecting essential financial support.
